What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognizing the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
Sorry I had to be a bit short with the blog this week hasn’t been very good for me, but I wanted to make sure the blog was put out and reading comics cheers me up!
Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:
Astral Plane Creator : M.A.N.U_the Creator
What we know : The world has lost its colors. Legends tell of ancient divine wars and a punishment… Manu, the last scholar of Paracelsus, alone holds the secret of the forgotten magic of colors.
What we Love: This comic came into my feed on reddit, the Creator much like the rest of us wants to be saved from the everyday job and get into comics full time, don’t we all? So let’s help him out and read his comic! Sub so he can get that sweet add rev. Art style is fun, great line art, and use of colors and the lettering is * Chef’s kiss* . Get this guy outta his day job and read on webtoon!
The Daughter of Time Creator : Ayumi
What we know : Kassandra only wants things what most teenagers do: Have a normal mum, get a driving license, and have fun with her best friend. When she starts to experience strange time skips, her world begins to fall apart.
What we Love: What a cute comic, clean well drawn art and a story that is written very well and every episode ends with a cassette tape image with a song suggestion you should listen to. Some good stuff there ! I read it on NamiComi!
The Cursed Swan Creator : rottenrosess
What we know : Being a princess is hard. Attending events, greetings, and being forced to marry the prince you did not want to marry. There’s a disaster and Princess Nova flees. She then comes across someone way out of her league. Will she go back or accept her new fate?
What we Love: When I put this comic on my list it had 20 subs, when I finally reached it the comic had gained over 200 more subs! That right there is a great start to this original fantasy comic. The art style is a funky stylized messy look, but it works out beautifully. The story needs some pacing and a touch writing improvement, but it gets better with each new update as you read. I hope the Creator keeps the momentum going with subs! I read on Webtoon!
Lovers in Crime(reboot) Creator : Crash Tako
What we know : A beautiful populous makes for a beautiful city.’ In a post apocalyptic 1950s style dystopia, Theodore and Frederick try to preserve the comfortable life they’ve made for themselves, whilst hiding their homosexuality from the eyes of the city. Meanwhile the young junior detective Leo tries to investigate the truth behind the city and its lies . LiC follows six characters as they struggle within the prison they call home- will they overcome their vices or embrace the cruelty of the city?
What we Love: I was familiar with the original comic, and I know the Creator has done quite a lot of animation too. It shows in this gorgeous reboot! The art is top notch, and elegant. The story is well written, it’s all together so well done, this should be on your list to check out. I read it on GlobalComix!
