Thank you for everyone’s patience this month! I had a lot of projects at work and extra hours that made life a little more demanding than usual, but now things have smoothed out and I have a little more downtime again.
What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognizing the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:
String Theory Creator: Lazy Mochi
What we know: A nerdy Rikuya Tanaka applied for the most dangerous school on the planet instead of a regular high school.. a school which trains in mastery of dimensions.. uh Oh.. now he must survive, unlock his very own dimension or die.. and fight wars against godlike beings along with his crew of misfits..
What we love: I like the ashcan style quality to this comic, like when I started drawing comics in the 1990’s. A little rough around the edges and needs some help with lettering but there is no doubt this Creator has their whole heart and soul in making this comic. And the story is pretty good, and a little weird which was right in my wheelhouse. They update often, I know in a year or two after drawing for awhile there improvements will come along nicely. I subbed on WT, go check it out.

Cosmic Tavern Creator: EmieBrands
What we know: A slice-of-life/romance series following a group of alien friends navigating the galaxy, love, and life itself. This series will release 1 new episode each month.
What we love: I recently caught up with this comic as a reddit recommendation, and I really enjoyed it. You get the closeness of the group of friends and the the world seems pretty easy to navigate when learning about the series. If you like aliens and also fantasy type settings you’ll like this comic too. Read and sub on GlobalComix!!
Conventure Creator: Conventure _Comics
What we know: Smookie, a superpowered anime girl, Mookie and tech genius, attends CONventure every year the annual CONvention. But this year, she’s bringing a real-life cat girl from Nekoland! Will this clash of worlds turn the convention into a wonderland of pop culture… or destroy it completely? Brace yourself for a hilarious and chaotic adventure
What we love: A funky-fun adventure of a fantasy cosplay convention. The art is colorful and the story is short bites of action and humor. There’s lots to read, hopefully the Creator is making more episodes. Go check it out on WT and give it a sub!
Nightmare Penitentiary Creator: Scissors Studio
What we know: When Griff, an anxious, scrawny juvenile delinquent, gets mistakenly thrown in the same prison as the most frightening criminals on the planet, he’ll need to recruit the help of a small few in a mad dash scramble for escape, before he receives the very “unwanted attention” that he dreads. Updates on Fridays!
What we love: Great premise, while the episodes are short it gives you a lot to read in bursts, but the artist updates regularly on fridays! The art style is quirky and creative; I can’t wait to see where this story goes! Check it out on NamiComi and give it a sub!
