What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognizing the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:
Beyond bounties Creator : jhramby
What we know : A young alien named Zun, the last of his kind, embarks on a desperate quest to restore his ruined homeworld after a war with its twin planet. Legend tells of a ritual that can revive dead planets, but the details are unknown. As he travels distant worlds to find his home planet and discover the ritual’s secret recipe, he’s falsely accused of a crime, leading to dangerous bounty hunters on his trail. As he uncovers the ritual’s secrets, he learns the hunters are closing in on him.
What we love : This is a comic that ticks all the right boxes out the gate! Excellent artwork, great story and amazing lettering. How the heck is anyone sleeping on this Sci Fi treasure I don’t know! It’s got mainstream appeal with the heart and soul of an indie. I read it on Webtoon!
Lucipurr Creator : Potatosheep
What we know : A (non) Satanist cat accidentally summoned a demonic goat and now has a pact with Lucifer. Various stories and short comics about their relationship.
What we love : This cute comedy has the Devil himself show up after being accidentally summoned. It’s quirky and funny, the art and humor are a delight. It’s bite sized episodes that still pack a humorous punch. I found it on NamiComi.
30 days of September Creator : AER Studio
What we know : Ri Eul Kyung is an illustrator who loves going to cosplay conventions to meet and connect with various cosplayers. She’s also the no. 1 fan of a famous cosplayer named Drei. Ri Eul never thought that her favorite cosplayer was once the boy she had admired since highschool named Ho Jun Jeon. What will happen once Ri Eul finds out about Drei’s real identity?
What we love : This intense mature romantic comic has the backdrop of the Cosplay community. Even the few episodes that are there are steamy so I hope there is more! The Creator does post uncensored version on their Patreon here : AER IOL Patreon
T.A.C.OS: Croissant Bay Chronicles Creator : Cerealbowl Comics
What we know : T.A.C.O.S. is a genre-blending series of urban fantasy, music, and drama, perfect for fans of intense storytelling, supernatural battles, and the relentless grind of chasing greatness.
What we love : There is some language some might find objectionable; the Creator does a good job explaining the separation of Art/Creator. That said, the art style is fun, fresh and funky and the story is a bit out of the box bonkers which is something I like to see. I like those comics that stick their neck out to bring you something out of this world genre wise. No Cookie-cutter here and you wouldn’t want that. There’s elves, and Orcs and my fav Demons in weird human skin! There’s battles and music, the comic never takes itself too seriously and is pretty fun. I read it on GlobalComix!
