We’re back!! Welcome to What’s Kanme Reading? in 2026! We had some technical difficulties that took us offline for a bit but now we’re back and we’ll be bringing you more comic recommendations every Wednesday.
What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognizing the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:
Outcast Odyssey Creator: KoraesDoodles
What we know: Kidnapped and trapped on an alien world, Ricki is forced onto a team of traumatized teens charged with simple instructions: Kill the monsters in order to be sent home. But Ricki’s mom is missing and nothing about this “game” makes sense. Ricki is determined to find her mother and get off this planet, and if her so-called “team” isn’t willing to help, she’ll just need to figure it out on her own. Updates every other Friday
What we Love: This fascinating story merges videogame type action with the mystery of the alien world. There’s lots to read and the story moves along pretty quickly. The art and storytelling fit in with the comic’s aesthetic and I hope to see more of this comic in the new year. You can read it on Webtoon!
Mikesaka Art Class (Episodes about Art methods) Creator: Tamaki Mikesaka
What we know: Mikesaka Tamaki runs an art class in Japan. Through this slice-of-life manga, you’ll get a peek into my daily life. By reading, you’ll discover some of the drawing techniques I teach my students and catch a glimpse of life in Japan.
What we Love: It’s a little slice of life comic that also teaches art techniques and such. Entertaining and educational this little Kitty comic is sweet and well done, you can read it on GlobalComix!
Squad 347 Creator: NJ WYNNE
What we know: In the very distant future follow squad 347 one of the many squads of galactic peacekeepers in a simple story of action and adventure
What we Love: There are lots of episodes to read and the artist improves wonderfully as you read along. The newer pages are traditional manga style, fairly clean line art and an intriguing story. I read this on Webtoon!
Dissociate Creator: Nawedi
What we know: Naomi is a social outcast, who is betrayed by her corrupt and misogynistic education system. She overcomes this system through rebellion and artistic expression.
What we Love: The art is well done, and the story is intriguing and while it’s a bite sized one shot it shows promise for this Creator and their other endeavors. We hope to see the Creator publish more projects soon I hope. I read this on NamiComi.
