What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognizing the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:
Unwritten Essays Creator: Observant Phantom
What we know: Four college students are tasked to find proof that the supernatural exists, thanks to Masato sending the wrong video essay one faithful afternoon. Only they don’t know how this summer homework would change their understanding of the world forever. Updates monthly
What we Love: This is a fun comic that just started, like a Buzzfeed unsolved episode in comic form. It’s funny, and quirky with some stylized lettering, and weird little monsters. It has a lot of promise and looks like the next update should be pretty soon! I read the first 3 episodes on WT.
PAWS Creator : ADYAMA
What we know: In the village of Oakhaven, whiskers are strength, and Paws was born with none. Worse, he was born with a curse that will kill him in one year. His only hope for survival is to enter the Whispering Whisker Event, a dangerous competition where the victor is granted a single, life-saving wish from the mystical Great Spirit Tree. To claim his future, Paws must not only overcome the village’s strongest warriors but also conquer the monstrous pain consuming him from within. In a world that has already cast him out, can he prove his worth in time to save himself?
What we Love: A really cool well drawn manga with Cats! Unique and with absolutely fantastic hand drawn art, the story is compelling, and I think the more people see it, it it’ll be a big Hit! I was very glad I found this on GlobalComix! Free to read!
Peak Voltage Creator: Ex Volke
What we know: Volt is a broke lonely guy (like you) trying to find a job. Despite his struggles he still manages to keep his biggest secret safe- He can manipulate Electricity. When all is hopeless, Volt coincidently comes across Deidra, who has the power of Technopathy due to being used as a human trial for a experiment years ago. She is desperate to find the first victim to the trials, despite not knowing it’s Volt. How long can Volt keep his power a secret from her & find… the others?
What we Love: This little comic has a lot going for it, the art and lettering are done well and the story draws you in and keeps you reading. I really enjoyed it, I read it on WT!
Wrath of Angel Creator: Kasoka
What we know: A Guardian Angel, Aleksandra, receives the last chance to save her soul. She is sent to a peaceful town to take care of Tamara, a rebellious teenager. The place raises her suspicions from the start and appears to have been chosen deliberately. Will she be able to temper her wrath and recover lost memories?
What we Love: The artwork caught my eye on NamiComi’s Weekly Editor’s Choice list! It’s a pretty cool comic, unique art style and interesting story. Just from what I have read so far I think you’ll like it too. I read it on NamiComi!
