What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognizing the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:
Confetti Club Creator : Kuro/E
What we know : Between laughter, first loves and well-kept secrets, Alex, Amy, and Leah love High School to the fullest. Nothing is ever simple when you’re juggling emotions, boys, and families with hidden stories. Ready to follow their journey? Confetti Club is an explosion of colors, drama, and unforgettable moments.
What we Love: Well drawn romance comic with a cute art style and a story with lots of enthusiasm! I think readers will really like this comic; it needs way more subs! I read it on Webtoon.
Cute Criminals &Crazy Philosophy Creator: Gosuian
Cute Criminals Crazy Philosophy
What we know : Yutori Hayase may look cute, but she’s a dangerously brilliant philosopher. After committing a mysterious crime driven by an extreme philosophical obsession, she’s sentenced to a quirky, Japanese-style local prison. This manga follows her bizarre, comical, and thought-provoking daily life in a wacky correctional facility filled with strange inmates, odd staff, and unexpected twists.
What we Love: I really enjoyed this comic. It’s a black and white manga ready traditionally right to left and reminds me of an early 90’s manga style that I read as a teen. There’s 2 episodes up, but they are big episodes, so you have plenty to read! I added this to my library at GlobalComix and if you like old school Manga you should too!
Slight Return Creator : Odyssey Comics
What we know : Slight Return follows newly-canceled nepo baby Theo Van Every as she inherits her rock star grandfather’s condemned bayou mansion. But as she sets up shop to record a comeback record, she’s confronted by an eerie stranger hellbent on repossessing a missing family heirloom: an iconic guitar rumored to have been bargained away by the Devil himself!
What we Love: I checked out this graphic novel tonight, and WOW Fantastic art and story, use of eye-catching colors. Take some time and read this comic it’s worth it. I added it to my library on GlobalCmix!
Don’t Be Heroes Creator : Jase King
What we know : Ace, with a heart bigger than his brain, has taken early retirement from the Peace Force to confront crime his own way. However, after encountering an unusual but dangerous pairing, he must now try recruiting his own team of misfits–HEROES to help take down this threat before more damage can be done. Makes sense, doesn’t it? Since there is always strength in numbers, right? …RIGHT?!
What we Love: NamiComi had this listed as a hot title and they were right! This little comic needs more subs, the art is impeccable, the color, the lettering all of it is uber professional. I felt like I was watching a super action cartoon. It’s just made its debut and I think it’ll be a big comic soon! Add this one to your library at NamiComi!
