Hey, what’s Kanme reading?
Wednesday 10/28/2026
What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognising the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
We’ve got 5 comics for you today!
I’m Not The Chosen One! Creator : Sleepiest of all
What we know: After living her entire life without purpose, a girl from the boring modern world falls into the universe of a popular video game. The catch? The video game revolves around a world war. Obviously, she doesn’t want to be somewhere like that. The chosen one is said to end the war and bring peace, and as fate would have it, she is deemed just that. From an aimless young adult, one girl quickly becomes a legendary hero.
What we love: This comic was recommended to me on Reddit, and I really enjoyed it. The story is fun, and the art is charming. It has only a handful of episodes, but the creator appears to be updating again! Head over to Webtoon and see if we can get this comic some subs!
Purple Veins Creator :
What we know: Purple Veins is about an ordinary girl who gets involved in a scandal she wasn’t prepared for.
What we love: Girl meets Ghoul?? While this vampire comic treads the same tropes many of us vamp comic writers do, it the lore, and the story that makes comics like this it’s own vampire world. So while I say the themes are typical, there’s always something interesting when it comes to reading vampire fiction. Even when you think the story might be the same, it never is. This comic is free with gold( paid subscribers) on GlobalComix.
BirdChonk Creator : BirdChonk
What we know: Just three chonky NZ birds trying their very best.
What we love: After a busy evening, these charming slice-of-life bird comics were a delight to read. With adorable artwork and fun gag-a-day humor, this little comic is well worth checking out and subbing to on Webtoon!
See You Soon Creator : Madmice Studio
What we know: A grandmother and her grandson having a casual heartfelt conversation before boarding the last train.
What we love: This beautifully written one-shot delivers an emotional punch through a quiet conversation between a grandmother and her grandson before one departs on the next train. Its delicate, bittersweet portrayal of grief makes it well worth reading, especially for fans of heartfelt comics. It was also named a weekly Editor’s Choice on NamiComi!
Elsie Creator: CilaTheGreat
What we know: Set in an alternate steampunk 1899, Elsie, a young welder finds herself the steward of an inventor’s armor and becomes a masked superhero.
What we love: This comic is just starting out on Inkstra but the artwork drew me to read it. I found the art lovely, cute in a way, although it probably wasn’t the Creator’s intention, I just really liked it. It has the promise of an old-time action-adventure story so I can’t wait to read more episodes! Head to Inkstra and get an account, I find a lot of great comics to read there!
Thanks for reading!
