 Hey, what’s Kanme reading?

Wednesday :  10/02/2024

What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all  love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognizing the comics we love to read.

Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.

This month is all about Horror and Halloween comics! Happy Spooky Month!

Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:

Nagrom  The faux vegan vampire Creator : Morgan comics

Nagrom

What we Know :   This four part limited series will be released over four weeks to celebrate the month of Morganween! Join us as we take classic Vampire mythology and rewrite everything you know about those bloodsucking vegans!

What we Love  : We’re big fans of the Morgan multiverse and this tale is no exception. This Halloween spectacular sets off our spooky season loaded with plenty of humor and the fun in this tale of accidental vampirism and phony veganism. Done in iPhone-style

clip art it is riotously funny and the plot cleverly written. For fans of alt comix.

SlasherMania Creator :  FreakTown comics

Slashermania

What we Know :  Troubled teens from New York and Los Angeles are taken to a summer camp facility to be trained as counselors and mix safely with other people their own age. Little do they know they are being watched by an audience hungry for sex & violence. They are the designated victims for a bizarre contest of murder and mayhem – WELCOME TO SLASHERMANIA! Masked maniacs from across the USA, Canada, Italy & the UK compete in various categories: Best Male Solo Death! Best Female Solo Death! Coitus Interruptus! Sin Punishment! Most Creative Kill! Biggest Multiple Death! The coveted Slasher of the year!

What we love :  This send up of classic americana 70’s and 80’s horror films it’s Camp teens vs Slashers. You can read a big preview of the graphic novel or purchase the PDF. It’s got all the fun of those campy old films in a well done graphic novel. Russell makes some damn good comics and you should check them out on GlobalComix.

Cheapjack gentlemen Creator : Miss Fester

Cheapjack

What we know :  Set in the mid-Victorian era, a crafty quack doctor and a somber undertaker become mismatched partners in crime, selling cadavers to a medical school — however, certain decisions and personal differences create issues in their business.

What we love:  This mature rated webtoon is getting harder to find thanks to the new rating system(shakes fist at WT) but it should be tops on your Halloween Webtoon list! Grave robbing Burkers, Resurrection men, and Noddies have fascinated us since back in the day, this comic continues our romp through comedy horror themes, it has a feel of an old 1960’s campy Hammer or even a Cook and Moore style film, beautifully done, perfectly written.  I am always so astonished that this comic is underrated. It should be more well known and now you know! Read on wt of the uncensored version on GlobalComix.

Temperamental Creator : SwordHeart

Temperamental

What we know : Aiden, Onyx, Dominic and Covin are four losers in their mid-20s content with just getting by. Saddled with present adult obligations and weighed down by past childhood traumas, they desperately try to live their lives while keeping a Pandora’s box of long-buried secrets from ruining what little joy they have.

What we Love : WOW !! just in the one episode I read I was hooked on this LGBTQA horror comic. The opening episode played out like a horror/noir story. It’s slow, and quiet but it builds up without relying on any gore or supernatural frights.  I won’t spoil much about it but you’ll get grabbed by the end of issue 2 and want to subscribe. Read on inkverse.

Keep coming back every Wednesday for your spooky treats!
