What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognizing the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:
I got into the Rizz Academy by Sheer luck Creator : FlowerShinobi
What we know: A few decades ago, a rich businessman named Mr. Charisma built the Rizz Academy ー a school made for only the best “Rizzlers”, who are students that can win anyone over. However, first-year Katou Makoto just got enrolled here yet he can’t flirt to save his life! How will he pass?! (Since I’m still a student, I update whenever I have time)
What we love: This funny, lighthearted comic is a clever parody of high school stories and a joy to read. The young creator deserves more support from the community, so take a moment to subscribe and help make their day! I binged it on webtoon!
K’ol The Barbarian Creator ZAG
What we know: K’OL is on her way to return the bounty.
What we love: Zag is a familiar face around the Kanme crew as a creator with several comics, so a new project is always exciting. This mature fantasy comic uses short, one-page updates, making it easy to follow even if you read a lot of other comics. The art and paneling are unmistakable and suit the story well. I’m excited to see where it goes. Please go add this comic, along with Zag’s other titles, to your shelf!
Novablast Forever! Creator : Atomlion
What we know: An alien crash lands in a small Texas town, and declares a proxy war on the universe using a pair of twins. This program brought to you by: “White Sparrow Brand Soap” Approved by the Comics Code Authority.
What we love: This comic came recommended on Discord, a riotously funny, wild sci-fi ride with a bold, cool, one of a kind art style. It’s on a brief hiatus, but if you subscribe now on Webtoon, you’ll be ready for its July comeback! Go NOW!
Black Knight Grom Creator : Insane Ukulele
What we know: Bromir “Bjo” Pieruński once made a promise to his late father: to become a hero. Yet with a shriek of heart he became a knight, sworn to save anyone from a monstrous curse. With a raging fire and shining ideal in his hands he’s out to fight the burning abyss… but is he even ready to look to himself?
What we love: This European-style manga comic, I discovered on NamiComi, blends fantasy with grounded real-life themes like grief and homophobia. The creator captures both emotion and action well, with a funky and distinctive art style. It deserves more followers on NamiComi!
