 Hey, what’s Kanme reading?

Wednesday : 11/13/2024

What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all  love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognising the comics we love to read.

Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.

Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:

Note: Sorry for the delay in posting, but last week with the election results I just couldn’t concentrate on anything, but I’m back now with new comics to recommend to you !

Exavior The Second :Creator GizmoGizmo

Exavior

What we know :  After her entire kingdom was Petrified by a basilisk, Princess Anais goes on a journey to find a way to save it. She requests the help of a knight named Exavior who claims to be from the Kingdom of Trulvia, a kingdom that hasn’t been seen in 150 years. If this is true, Who is he really? What does he want? Where are they going?

What we love: The art style is traditional paper/pencil , reminding me of the ashcan comics I made when I started in comics a very long time ago. It is well done and the story is intriguing  there are only 5 episodes please sub and keep up with the story on

 webtoon.

Swords and Roses  Creator : The Gentleman panda

Swords and Roses

What we know : How long would you keep a promise? After a brutal incident at Camelot Castle ends in tragedy, Princess Rose is forced to leave and live in the wreckage of an old forgotten tower. She promises to wait there until a worthy suitor defeats her dragon bodyguard Alder, aka the best wingman a girl could ask for. However, after 5 years Rose is starting to think that maybe, just maybe… she could break her promise and define her own future instead.

What we love: I found this comic through NamiComi in their discovery section. Instantly hooked by the Cover art and prologue. I don’t normally read fantasy comics but I really enjoyed the episodes I read and look forward to more. You can read the comic from the start on NamiComi!

Supercat Creator : Soul the Souleater

Supercat

What we know :  After emerging from a deep and prolonged sleep, Lexus discovers that she has been granted a mysterious ‘gift’ by the demigod Xato. However, she is unable to recall the events that led to this bestowed power. As she grapples with the daunting task of unveiling her family’s shrouded history, an important question looms overhead: Will she embrace her newfound ‘gift’ to unearth the truth, or will she allow the murky shadows of the past to prevail?

What we love:  This is a mysterious and crazy good comic, I like the character Chris who is either naked or wearing a tight orange  bodysuit , either way it’s pretty cool.  I started reading because I wondered what the Super cat was, I’m half way through the series, and found every twist and turn to be captivating. You can check it out on inkverse.

Happy Ugly Girl Creator :  Jirami

Happy Ugly girl

What we know : The humble diary of a happy ugly girl! \(^u^)/

What we love: This is a slice of life comic diary that was written over several years and the Creator is back now on it, just having a new update in October. This is a great read as the OC attempts to find happiness and practice self love/care in her world. It covers quite a lot of subjects like health, puberty, plastic surgery and a few comics I read reminded me of some of my younger sister’s struggles when she was a teen, having been very tall and appearing older than the kids her age. Then some reminded me of my own youth before I understood I was trans, I couldn’t understand while I was pretty much an “ugly duckling” through my whole teen years, never blossoming like my friends. This is a comic that does touch on experiences many of us shared. Growing up. Read on webtoon!

Thank you for reading and as always share your comics with us!
