What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognising the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:
Star of Midnight Creator : AsiYa Ash
What we Know: A regular fishing trip turned harrowing for village girl Eisruh. Bringing with it an unexpected encounter with a foreigner. She thought him to be fascinating while her brother saw him as a liability. Zjartem found himself in a predicament when he found himself in an unknown land with a bad case of amnesia accompanied by two strangers. Eisruh and Zjartem’s fate collided from that moment. As a girl from the rural Isles came face to face with a noble from the Solsevaz Empire.
What we Love : This is a new romance comic that starts out action packed, the art has some compression which sometimes happens with webtoon, however it is a painted style which looks interesting. Could use a bit more work, but it just started so the Creator will improve as the story progresses no doubt, they post monthly. I read this on webtoon!
Faustus Creator : spamfriedsandwich
What we Know: Faustus; the only person who could cure vampires from their never-ending lifetime of bloodlust… Or so the legend claims. Rayn, a normal human who happens to live with a vampire as family, never gave the story much thought. That is, until he meets Alexei – a priest who was tasked by the Church to search for the mysterious Faustus.
What we Love: This is a unique take on vampire lore, and the art and color style of black and white with the use of grey and reds, fits quite well. The storytelling is good and doesn’t overwhelm you with unnecessary details; it takes its time to build the world. I read the comic on GlobalComix but the biggest collection of episodes is on Webtoon.
Cross My Heart Creator : Espeiderman
What we Know: After a near death experience, Ning wrestles with a crippling trauma that threatens to swallow him whole. This is until Ning creeps his way into the case of “The Promise Killer”, who he comes to believe is his attacker. He must track down the criminal through the patterns left behind and decipher the truth, all while struggling to keep his own secrets at bay.
What we Love : A goth, supernatural crime mystery that is quite fascinating with art and storytelling. It has you read it in one go. I read it on webtoon!
Perchance Romance? Creator : HarloTintin
What we Know: A cozy, gently Boys Love! When David accompanies his best friend Mimi to a fantasy ball based on her favorite video game, he expects a night of free food and… not much else. He *definitely* doesn’t expect “Duke Cassius Storm” to sweep him into a whirlwind dance and romance. But is the chemistry between them real, or just roleplay?
What we Love : I just discovered this BL comic on NamiComi, the art is excellent and the story looks like a lot of fun, with a cute concept. It updates every Wednesday, by the time you read this, the 3rd episode will be posted!
