What’s Kanme reading? Posted every Wednesday Team Kanme Creatives team is here to get you over the weekday blues because we all love comics! It’s true! And we really love Indie comics. Indies offer the most diverse and fearless storytelling among comics, why? Because we can! We are always inspired by the community around us and we want to start recognizing the comics we love to read.
Every week we’re going to recommend comics we are reading to you.
Our first recommendation from the Team Kanme is:
Pretty boy! Creator : Izusuzuuu
What we Know : Suki is the school role model. famous class president and teacher’s pet. Mysterious new boy Jiro is an outsider, and seems to have a force field that Suki’s sweet charm can’t get past. The two opposites clash- or attract? Can Suki get Jiro to
ever smile?
What we love: This is a new series about 3 episodes in. it promises to be a short run, but you never know if it takes off maybe longer??We hope! The art is delightful and the story is such a little treasure! No doubt this new comic will popular, head over the webtoon and sub!
Certified Spellcaster Creator : indubiousBootes
What we know: Aldous used to be one of the most powerful sorcerers in the entire world until one day.. he got turned into a cat! 8 Masters later he is the pet of the elf magician Raphael , Raphael , who has his own shortcomings with magic is the last one who can help Aldous regain his humanity.
What we love: This charming, cute comic has a lot going for it, fun art style, cute kitty even if he is an old Magician, the story has a lot to explore in it’s magical lore and well worth the binge/read, it just updated on inkverse on the 10th.
Pieces of glass Creator : Wokoca
What we know : When the Nalaciki, a red skinned race of aliens came to earth, Human accepted them, when a malfunctioning space ships belonging to the Nalaciki crashed, it resulted in the deaths of millions of Nalaciki colonists but also humans in it’s path.
Children from both sides were left orphaned. one of those orphans, Erika is Romani, she lives with her brother and cousin. All too soon they will learn how the world works growing up before their time.
What we love : The Creator, does struggle with English as it is not their first language, those typos can absolutely be forgiven as this ambitious little comic has places to go. The art is intriguing and that’s how I found it on Reddit. It’s a glimpse of the life of outsiders and into the world of the Romani which we don’t often know more about. There are 18 episodes and the art gets better as we all know in the comics biz getting started is the hardest part. You can read on webtoon!
The Arrangement Creator : Vampire Pyramid Scheme
What we know : In this historical Supernatural LGBTQA drama two vampires enter into an unlikely partnership for survival among the chaos and excess of the 1920’s New York City. Their arrangement threatens to change both lives.
What we love : This is a powerful 8 page preview. The Art is greater than just spectacular, it’s Divine! The muted sepia tones are soft and beautiful to the eye. This unusual vampire story is more of what we need in the Vamp fiction world, an injection of fresh ideas and visuals. We eagerly await more!!!! Read the first issue on GlobalComix.
